Moving
with Kids
When a family is preparing
to relocate, reactions to the upcoming change are important. Children
reflect their parents' attitudes. Pre-planning begins with informing
them of the upcoming move and includes organizing the details
of relocating and getting acquainted with your new
city (See Destination Cities Link).
Prepare the children in
advance of the move. Give them time to adjust to the idea. Answer
all their questions. An honest question and answer session will
give you an idea of their concerns. This will give you time to
resolve their fears.
Involve the children by
taking them on house hunting trips. Take photos of the new home,
school or neighborhood. They can show the photos to their friends
and feel involved.
