Among the area's cultural attractions are the Albany Center Galleries, Albany Civic Theater, Albany County Historical Association, Albany Institute of History and Art, Albany Symphony Orchestra, Capital Repertory Company, New York State Capitol, New York State Museum, Cathedral of All Saints and Dudley Observatory. The cultural activities of the local university and colleges are usually open to the public. A variety of entertainment and sporting events are held at the Knickerbocker Arena.
